Tree Felling & Tree Removal in Stalham

Need a tree taken down safely in Stalham or the Norfolk Broads? LJ Tree Services handles straight felling, sectional dismantling and restricted-access removals — NPTC qualified, fully insured, with all waste removed. We visit first, explain your options and give you a clear written quote.

How we fell and remove trees

Not every tree can simply be cut at the base. Where there's space and a clear direction to fall, a straight fell is quick and cost-effective. Where a tree overhangs a house, shed, greenhouse, power line or road — which is common in Stalham and the Broads villages — we dismantle it in sections instead, lowering each piece under control with ropes and rigging.

Sectional felling and removal of a large tree

Straight Felling

Where there's room, the tree is felled in one go and cut up on the ground.

Sectional Dismantling

The tree is taken down piece by piece when it can't be felled safely in one.

Rigging

Ropes and slings lower heavy limbs gently, protecting what's beneath.

Restricted Access

Trees hemmed in by walls, fences or outbuildings are removed by hand.

What happens when you book

First we visit and assess the tree — its size, lean, condition and what's around it — then talk you through straight felling versus sectional dismantling and whether stump grinding is worth adding.

On the day we set up safe working zones, fell or dismantle the tree, and process the timber. Branches are chipped on site, and we can cut logs to length and leave them for you or take everything away — it's your choice.

We're NPTC qualified, carry £5m public and £10m employers' liability insurance, and are registered Environment Agency green waste carriers.

When stump grinding is useful

Felling a tree leaves the stump behind. Grinding it out gives you ground to replant or lay turf over — and a deeper grind clears the way for a shed or patio. It removes the trip hazard, and regrowth from the old stump is very unlikely. If you're having a tree removed, it's usually cheapest to grind the stump at the same visit, before the machine leaves site.

Tree felling & removal questions

Will you remove the waste?

Yes. We chip branches on site and can take all timber and rakings away, or leave you cut logs for firewood — just tell us which you'd prefer when we quote.

Do I need permission to fell a tree?

Some trees are protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or sit in a conservation area. Tell us your postcode and we'll check; if permission is needed we'll complete the council application on your behalf. Read our guide to TPOs & conservation areas.

Can you remove a tree in a small garden?

Yes — restricted-access and sectional removals are routine for us. Even trees boxed in by fences, sheds or conservatories can be dismantled safely.

Are you insured for this work?

Yes. We carry £5m public liability and £10m employers' liability insurance, and every operator is NPTC qualified.
