Hedge Cutting & Removal in Stalham

A tidy hedge frames a garden; an overgrown one blocks light and takes over. We cut, trim and remove hedges of all sizes across Stalham and the Norfolk Broads — to your line and height, with every clipping cleared away.

Hedge trimming and cutting

Regular trimming keeps a hedge dense, healthy and looking sharp. Left to its own devices, a hedge grows woody at the base and bare at the sides, so a light cut at the right time of year encourages new growth and keeps the shape you want. We'll set the line and height with you — flat tops, rounded, or a formal straight edge — and cut both sides where access allows.

When a hedge needs removing

Sometimes cutting back isn't the answer. A hedge may have grown too large for its boundary, become bare and gappy at the base, or started dying back in places so it's no longer safe or manageable. If it's beyond recovery, removing it is the practical option — we take out the hedge, dig or grind out the roots where needed, and clear the site so you can replant or start fresh.

If the hedge might still come back with a hard cut, we'll tell you. Where a hedge contains protected trees, or where relevant tree or conservation-area controls apply, we'll check the position before work begins.

Hedge cutting questions

How often should a hedge be cut?

Most formal hedges look their best cut once or twice a year — often late spring and late summer. Fast-growing species may need more. We'll advise for your hedge.

Can you cut a very tall or wide hedge?

Yes. We work at height with the right access and safety kit, so tall boundary and conifer hedges are no problem.

Do you take the clippings away?

Always. Everything is cleared and removed, and we can leave the chippings for you if you'd rather keep them for mulch.

Is there a bad time to cut a hedge?

Trimming during nesting season (roughly March–August) should be avoided where birds may be nesting — it's also a legal consideration. We'll work around it.
